Here I Am, I'm Listening - reflection by Mikaela Blong
**This reflection has been written by Mikaela Blong, Secondary Teacher at Mt Maria Petrie.**
It has been a challenging two weeks for me. From questioning why I am on this journey and being unwell, to the hot sun and dehydration. To listening to the Bishops and Pope Francis speak about how we can live a life of faith. I still have a lot of questions but I know now that I’m not alone, that God is always here with me. But I’m also learning that I need to listen more for what he is trying to share with me.
Now more than ever, I’m more thankful for prayer and reflection as I truly understand that it’s ‘our time’ with God. It’s a moment to stand still in the busy modern world and just say ‘here I am, I’m listening.’
On my walk to the Vigil site I had the opportunity to share a part of my life journey and story about how I’ve come into the faith. There has been a lot of challenges and questions for me and being able to experience this journey has been inspiring. It’s been the quiet moments of reflection that I’ve learned more about my faith and who I want to be. I know that my journey still has a long way to go and I still have a lot to learn, but knowing that the church is there gives me the confidence to be me. To speak and stand up for what I believe and accept God fully into the centre of my life. That I am not alone on my journey, he is always there walking with me and I am here listening for his guidance.
